Review For the Final

This will help with Chemistry and if you get done, Earth Science

2)  Scroll down to Chpt 5 and click on:

 How Many Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons Are in Common Elements?

3)  Step 1:  Record an answer for the six pictures, then click on Step 2.  Use your PT.

4)  Step 2: Tell me how big a Cu (copper) atom is. 

5)      Write down what you know about subatomic particles (p,n,e) with regards to charge, location, and mass.  Then, click Step 3 and move your cursor over the particles to check your answer.  How did you do?

6)      Try to build the first ten atoms of the PT and isotopes for each.  Follow the directions in the box.  Do you see a pattern?

a.       What happens when electrons and protons are moved near each other?

b.      What happens to the nucleus when it contains neutrons only?  Protons only?

c.       What happens when you try to put a third electron in the first energy level?

*You will get points for visiting the other blogs on our TEAM.  If you can write Ms. Thachik and Mr. McNulty a legitimate question about what you are learning in Math and English, I will give you extra credit points.  If they tell me your question was garbage, you will receive garbage rather than extra credit.

2.  Final Quiz for the Semester will be next Wed 1/14 focusing on the MACRO Properties of Matter.

3.  We will complete a Physical/Chemical Change Lab in Seminar (all week) and during regular class either Friday or Monday. 

4.  XC if you can tell me why Ammonium Chloride was a trick question in the lab we did today.  Was it a Physical or Chemical Change?  What is special about the heating of this substance?

Chemistry is Finally Here

Now that Chem is here, the notes are all posted on the Chem page to the right. 

You should complete your worksheet on Density and States of Matter by Th. 12/11.

We will probably need to dress for lab on Monday.  Remember, don’t wear your best clothes.

XC:  For the Final…Bring the packet of notes, tests/quizzes, vocab, classwork/hmwk, and calisthenics to the final with you on the week of 1/19.

In addition, bring the review sheet for the final and your Course Overview.  If you have highlighted and written specific questions, there will be more points for you.

XC Qof Day:  What was the name of the unidentified glassware in the picture during class?

Week 4: Speed & Acceleration

Heads up on the due dates and a little extra credit for those of you who are checking:

1.  Quiz Friday:  Graphing, Distance and Time Calculations, Interpretting the Graph, Compare & Contrast Speed & Velocity.

2.  All vocab assignments due (creative story and definitions in your own words) up to Frame of Reference.

3.  Quiz 1 corrections in appropriate format due on Thursday.

4.  Check new notes under Speed & Acceleration Page.  Motion II will have the Calisthenics and definitions.

5.  XC:  Explain to me how running from an alligator can help differentiate between velocity & speed.  In addition to studying, this will really help you when you are faced with this situation…as you inevitably will be some day.

Vocal Jazz Group

If you love to sing and dance, you might be interested in auditioning for our fantastic Vocal Jazz Group.  This group performs at various activities in the community and our district.  If interested you MUST sign up outside Mrs. Fesmire’s room  - W110. Listen on the announcements next week for the audition date and time. You do NOT have to be in any other choir to audition.  

 

Sportsmanship Committee….

The Sportsmanship Committee is collecting tabs from aluminum cans as a donation to the Ronald McDonald House.  Our goal is to collect 750 pounds of drink tabs.

Get your 2008-09 physical now!!! 

Students who are planning on participating in a fall sport or marching band need a physical PRIOR to the start of any activity.  Physicals can be completed from May 1, 2008 on and count for the entire 2008-09 school year.  Physical forms are available online.  Call the WC to schedule an appointment – 302-324-5470.
